We are glad you are here with us today because we believe that our time is special and life-transforming. We will meet 10AM with an outdoor service combined with an indoor livestream in our Main Auditorium.
Del Rey Church is currently gathering in person on the grass and indoors, keeping physical distance and wearing masks. With this in mind, we long and pray for your safety, both physical and spiritual. Even for those who decline or who are unable to gather, we believe that they may still benefit from many of the ministries of the word of God and of worship. Hence, we livestream our Sunday service for those people who do not gather with us. Please be aware that watching online (and not gathering) poses limitations. It is not what the Bible means by "the church," which literally means "the assembly." We hope to see you soon.
Below are elements of the Sunday Worship Service.
PRAYER & SCRIPTURE. We submit ourselves to God with a reading of Scripture and go to Him in prayer, recognizing the One we have gathered to worship. God’s mercies are new every morning.
SINGING TOGETHER. We joyously join together in song in praise of the triune God. Singing helps us to connect our hearts and emotions to God and unites us as we rejoice in the gospel.
STUDYING SCRIPTURE. We open God’s word to study what it says and apply it. The Bible is God’s self-disclosure to His people. It is a light unto our paths and sustenance for our souls.
HOME DISCIPLESHIP in place of KIDS CHURCH. For parents (but really, for anyone who wants to an easy-to-understand Bible lesson from the point of view of a teacher teaching kids), we have prepared lessons to aid you in the discipleship of your children at home.
TAKING COMMUNION. The gathered church (those in physical attendance) will take communion in remembrance of the sacrifice of the incarnate Son of God, Jesus Christ; but those who are not gathering will forgo this ordinance.
OFFERING & PRAYERS. Having received God’s word, we respond in worship by prayerfully, joyfully, and sacrificially giving of our money. Use our app to offer prayer requests and seek fellowship, and give offerings online. You can also ask for prayer and give offerings on this website.
SCATTER FOR MISSION. Having responded in repentance and faith, being equipped by God’s word and filled with His Spirit, we embrace our calling as children of God to be witnesses of His love and grace.
COMMUNITY GROUPS. During the week we gather for fellowship, prayer, and study in homes throughout Los Angeles to wrestle with the truths of the Bible and love one another. Most groups are meeting in person or through online software such as Zoom. Find a Community Group near you by visiting: delreychurch.com/cgmap
MEMORIZE THE CATECHISM. Join with others in our church as we memorize the New City Catechism. The word catechism comes from a Greek word κατηχέω (katecheo), which is a term used to describe the communication of information and instruction. As Christians, we are deeply concerned that our community is one marked by communication of biblical information and godly instruction for life in Christ.
Memorize the question and answer.
- Question 24 - Why was it necessary for Christ, the Redeemer, to die?
- Answer - Since death is the punishment for sin, Christ died willingly in our place to deliver us from the power and penalty of sin and bring us back to God. By his substitutionary atoning death, he alone redeems us from hell and gains for us forgiveness of sin, righteousness, and everlasting life.
- Scripture Reference - Colossians 1:21-22
GIVING. It is good for us to give as part of our regular worship to support the mission and ministry of the church - that's why God tells us to do it. We offer many ways to give to suit any mode of generosity the Lord puts on your heart. You can give on our app (tap the "GIVE" tile). You can give right here on our website at delreychurch.com/online-giving.
