About Community Groups

The Gospel changes everything, including how we relate to one another. The Gospel frees us from the fear of being known and the isolation of individualism, allowing us to participate fully in God's family, the church. Community Groups are one of the key expressions of the gospel in community at Del Rey Church. Furthermore, it is one of our primary vehicles for discipleship and overall church health.

We gather in Community Groups with our friends and neighbors to live life together and experience the gospel in ways we can’t on our own. They are a place to wrestle with the truths of the Bible, love one another, serve the city, and participate in the mission of God for Del Rey Church.

We were created for community for the Glory of Jesus and for our great joy. Whether you are new to Del Rey Church or you have been hanging around waiting for an opportunity, there is a Community Group waiting for you.

Community Groups are basically a weekly gathering of a core of 5-15 people that meet in someone’s home.  We pray together for each other and others.  We hold each other accountable for life.  We share what God is doing in our lives.  We work together to reach out to others.  We study things to sharpen our mission and life for God’s glory.

We believe that fellowship with other Christians is absolutely essential in order to grow spiritually. The early Christians met daily for fellowship, where they would share meals, study the Bible, care for one another, and pray together (see Acts 2:42 – 47). Because of their fellowship they grew both in heart and number.

Some of the greatest needs we have in this life center around our inner need to have a place where we belong, to have friends, to receive encouragement, and also to give encouragement to others. For these reasons we firmly believe in Community Groups.

Often we can feel disconnected from other people on the weekend at church. Just attending the Sunday service may leave us feeling “left out” and alone. But you’re important to us and we offer our Community Groups as an indispensible opportunity to experience the family life of our church.
