The title of the series is S.O.S. It is a play on the Morse code distress signal S.O.S. which we re-acronymed to be “Sermons on Sermons.” The SOS signal is internationally known to be a sign of distress. This series of sermons, S.O.S., is a sermonic distress signal. There is a lot of weird stuff going on nowadays in the name of preaching, not to mention in the name of "church." We are in a distressful situation. Many have been fooled by preachers who hold Bibles in their hands and act like they are preaching biblically, when in reality they are not. The majority of preaching today has little to anything to do with the Bible, what the actual text says and what God has done for us in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Tragically, much of it is happening by and among those who claim to believe the gospel and believe the Bible. This sermon series is a distress signal that aims to expose the madness. We hope this series will equip you to understand the primacy of preaching in the church and what it is supposed to look like when done biblically at the hands of qualified preachers. There are far too many bootlegger preachers walking around fleecing the flock of God and many wolves who are having a hay-day devouring God's people. God has given us His word to feed our souls and protect us from wolves. His word is powerful and always sparks revival, the very thing we need in this city of Los Angeles. By His grace, we pray this sermon series will spark a craving for God's word and souls will be feed on His the wonderful words of the Scripture.
