Men's Summit 2018
REGULAR REGISTRATION IS CLOSED. THE WAIT LIST IS OPEN.
DEL REY CHURCH is excited to join forces with COMMUNITY OF FAITH BIBLE CHURCH and BETHANY BAPTIST CHURCH. At this summit for men, we will explore what God tells us will happen at the end of history - as related in the Book of Revelation, the last book of the New Testament of the Bible. This is exciting stuff - join us this fall!

Speakers: Pastor Matt Jones, Pastor Anthony Kidd, Pastor Bobby Scott, Pastor P.J. Tibayan
When: Thursday night, November 8, through Saturday afternoon, November 10
Where: Pine Summit Christian Camp near Big Bear Lake (more info here)
Why: Because it's life changing and fun
How: We carpool up the mountain and back
Cost: Covers program, room and board, and fun stuff
- Regular registration: $190 until October 14
- Late registration: $220 from October 15 until sold out
- Money tight? You can request financial aid when you register.
The retreat starts by carpooling with your fellow church men on Thursday afternoon/evening and sharing a time of fellowship in the car. We encourage you to arrive at Pine Summit that night for "hang out" time, but if you have to, you can drive up early on Friday morning, because we have planned nothing formal for Thursday night - we'll start on Friday morning. On Friday we will eat three meals together and have times of Bible study and hanging out, including hours of free time for hiking, sports, ziplines and ropes courses, sports, relaxing or paint ball (bring your cash for that). On Saturday, we have fellowship, meals, and learning time, and then we return to our families and homes on Saturday afternoon/evening. On Sunday morning, we lead our families and our church in corporate worship, as men ought to do.
WHAT'S IT LIKE UP THERE?
Pine Summit Christian Camp is a phenomenal retreat site near Big Bear Lake among trees, mountains, and the water. The camp includes lodging of several different kinds - we are staying in the hotel-style lodges, four to six single beds per room (two of the rooms have six beds), with no bunk beds, all in the same building that includes a large meeting room. During free time, Pine Summit provides a climbing wall, ziplines, ropes courses, soccer field, basketball, tennis, horseshoes, BB gun range, archery, and paint ball.
It's like a hotel room. Four to six men to a room, in single beds, with an attached bathroom. See photos here - see the "Hotel Style Lodges" section.
What to Bring
Toiletries, flashlight, Bible, pen or pencil, warm clothes, and money for snacks and extras. Ear plugs or noise-cancelling headphones if you have trouble sleeping with noise (e.g., snoring). Bedding, linens, and towels are INCLUDED - don't need to bring those.
What to leave behind
Drama, stress, work, tobacco, alcohol, drugs, and firearms.
SPEAKERS and PROGRAM
Anthony Kidd, Pastor of Preaching, Community of Faith Bible Church
Pastor Anthony holds an M.Div. from The Master's Seminary. As CFBC's Preaching Pastor, Pastor Anthony is most excited to see people experience God's grace through listening to His word. He delights to see God having dealings with His people during or right after a sermon. For him, there is no greater joy than to be a part of that redemptive transaction. God shined brightly upon him when his wife of 21 years came into his life. He and Sherry are raising their 5 beautiful children together and loving every moment of it.
Bobby Scott, Pastor of Discipleship, Community of Faith Bible Church
Pastor Bobby holds Th.M. and M.Div. degrees from The Master’s Seminary. As CFBC's Pastor of Discipleship, Pastor Bobby loves teaching the Word of God and through the power of the Holy Spirit and watching it transform people's lives (2 Cor 3:18). In this role, he oversees Sunday morning and mid-week teaching ministries and is humbled by the privilege of chairing the Elder Team. Pastor Bobby is passionate about strengthening the urban church, you can read more about his thoughts on his Twitter account, @pastorbscott, and his blog Truth in the City. Pastor Bobby believes he married up when God blessed him with his wife, Naomi. He loves his six (yes, six!) kids. As a UCLA alumni, his two favorite two teams are UCLA and whoever is playing SC. Go Bruins!!!
P.J. Tibayan, Pastor, Bethany Baptist Church
P. J. Tibayan is a member and preaching pastor of Bethany Baptist Church in Southeast Los Angeles County where he lives with his wife and five children. He blogs at gospelize.me, helps lead both the Shepherd LA conference and The Gospel Coalition Los Angeles Regional Chapter. Previously, he has been discipled, nurtured, and equipped as part of Christian Fellowship Bible Church in West Covina (member and eventually assistant pastor), Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington D. C. (member and pastoral intern), and CrossView Church in Los Angeles (member and preaching pastor). He holds a bachelor's degree in biblical studies with an emphasis in biblical languages from The Master's University, a master's degree from The Master's Seminary, and is a doctoral candidate in biblical theology at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, where his research focuses on the book of Revelation.
Matt Jones, Lead Pastor, Del Rey Church
Dr. Matt Jones has a passion for God and instructing people from His word, the Bible. He has been pastoring in the Del Rey Church for over 18 years and currently serves as our lead pastor (primus inter pares). Even more importantly, he has been happily married for over 16 years to Erika and the proud father of seven children. The Jones family is a certified foster home with Los Angeles County, always ready to shelter the orphaned and kids in need. Pastor Matt has taught the Bible and served in a variety of places around the world, including Mexico, Africa, Israel, Germany, Dubai and the United Kingdom. He's a student of the Bible himself, having completed a bachelor’s degree in biblical studies at Moody Bible Institute, a master’s degree in apologetics at Biola University, and a second master’s degree in theology at Fuller Theological Seminary. He completed his doctorate at Talbot School of Theology, Biola University and is currently working on a second doctorate at the prestigious London School of Theology in England. As our lead pastor, Matt is focused on teaching people how to live life and upholding sound doctrine for the church. In his teaching, Matt contextually brings the message of Christ to the church in a way that is very personal, intellectual, and passionate. When he’s not at church, overseas working on his doctorate or at home with his family, Matt and his wife like to spend time together in the outdoors (although they proudly confess that they are homebodies) and take road trips. For fun, Matt enjoys playing with his kids, reading (lots of reading!), writing, and watching movies (when time permits).
