sunday_cross_25Sunday Morning Worship Service...

...is a place that is welcome to all to visit, young and old, without judgment.
It is a place where you will find community and an emphasis on the teaching of the word of God in a simple, yet sound, biblical approach.

Throughout the week at Del Rey Hills Church we get together in small core groups called Home Fellowships to bond with each other and learn, but the Sunday morning worship service is our one time together every week as a corporate body to worship Christ in one loud unified voice. We come together to sing and praise our King and to learn His Bible through solid biblical preaching to give us knowledge and passion for the week ahead.

If you have not already joined us on a Sunday morning for worship, when you do, you will discover that we believe:

#1 Worship of God should be Spiritual. Therefore: We remain flexible and yielded to the Holy Spirit to direct our worship in an orderly, edifying, and God-honoring manner.

#2 Worship of God should be Inspirational. Therefore: We give a great place to music and the reading of Scriptures in our worship.

#3 Worship of God should be Intelligent. Therefore: We are not anti-intellectual. Our services are designed with great emphasis upon the life of the mind and teaching of the Word of God in its historical-grammatical context in order that He might instruct us how to live.

#4 Worship of God is Fruitful. Therefore: We look for His Love in our lives as the supreme manifestation that we have truly been worshipping Him.

sunday_cross_25Communion

On the first Sunday of each month, we make Communion available to those attending our church. The following information is giving to help you understand why and how we sunday_communiontake Communion so that you might feel at ease and comfortable in joining us.

Communion is the partaking of bread and juice as symbolic of Christ's body and blood. Jesus has commanded believers to take Communion to remind them of the forgiveness He has provided through His death (1Cor 11:24-25). It is a time of reflection, self-examination, confession, and thanksgiving of his forgiveness.

sunday_communion_wideAt Del Rey, we follow these simple guidelines:

1.) We encourage only those who have made a personal commitment to Christ to receive communion.
2.) Childres ages 1st grade and up may receive Communion if it is appropriate. Generally, however, children are dismissed to attend Kids Church prior to the serving of Communion.
3.) Typically, we serve Communion near the end of the service.
4.) As the Communion elements are received, we encourage you to use the time for reflection and confession. Often music is playing during this time. Once the bread and juice are served, the congregation takes Communion together as a body.

sunday_cross_25Guest Speakers

sunday_guest_bacote_100 sunday_guest_cash_100 sunday_guest_hazen_100 sunday_guest_lewis_100

From time to time, we have guest speakers at DRC. We feel blessed to have had many amazing people share our pulpit. Here are just a few of them:

Dr. Vincent Bacote

sunday_guest_bacote_200Associate Professor of Theology
Director of Center for Applied Christian Ethics
On faculty since Spring 2000

Ph.D. - Drew University (Theological and Religious Studies, 2002) M.Phil. - Drew University (1999) M.Div. - Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (emphasis in Urban Ministry, 1994) B.S. - The Citadel (Biology, 1987)

Dr. Bacote is married to Shelley and they have two beautiful daughters.

One of Abraham Kuyper's most famous quotes is: "There is not a square inch in the whole domain of our human existence over which Christ, who is sovereign over all, does not cry: Mine!" This quote gets to the heart of the way I view theology and the Christian faith. It is important to recognize that our faith is not reserved for some kind of Christian ghetto. It ought to impact every facet of our lives and society. I hope to create this kind of passion in students as they study theology, a truly exciting subject.
